What's a Kumquat?

Oh wow. Look, we're about to share something with you that you'll never believe. A Kumquat is a special type of orange that stores its sugar in its skin as opposed to in its flesh. They make for amazing snacks, either out the hand or candied. When making orange preserves, leave the entire rind in for an amazing surprise!


Variety: Fukushu

Description:

Fukushu Kumquats are absolutely adorable. with a shape like a Marshmallow drop and a shiny exterior, they make for excellent place setting.  This is also one of the few varieties of kumquat that's easy peel. Due it's easy peel and presence of seeds, this is perfect for those that prefer to eat solely the skin.

Description:

The Nagami Kumquat is a standout for any recipe requiring a citrus zest, as the skin is sweet and can be extremely oiled, giving them a beautiful bouquet and exuberant flavor.

Variety: Eustis Limequat

Description:

Whatever you are using limes for, just stop it. Really. Limequats are just like limes, but better in every way! This one's simple, it's just like a lime, but it has an edible sweet skin! Dip these guys in a simple syrup and you've got some of the best sour candy around

Description:

Indio Mandrinquats are a super sized kumquat, cross bred with Mandarins! This variety, while seeded, has a much sweeter interior than most similar varieties. It also carries a unique droplet shape with a dark orange color.

Description:

Buddhas hand are an amazing variety of citrus known as a Citron. These giant lovecraftian fruits are actually pith the entire way through. Famed as a natural air freshener, the flesh of this fruit is like a very mild citrus mixed with cucumber. Sliced, you can add it to salads or use it to make Buddhacello by bottling it in Vodka.
